Vasiti Soko

PEERS Regional Director, Pacific Islands

Vasiti Soko is the Associate Director for Climate and Disaster for the Indo-Pacific at Tetra Tech International. She previously made history as the first female Director of Fiji’s National Disaster Management Office, leading national and regional preparedness, response, and recovery operations. With over 15 years of experience in disaster risk management, climate resilience, and humanitarian coordination, Vasiti has played a pivotal role in legislative reform, the establishment of national emergency teams, and the integration of traditional Pacific knowledge with modern crisis leadership.

She has supported international response efforts as a qualified United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) responder and continues to contribute to regional and global networks. Her leadership has strengthened disaster governance systems across the Pacific and promoted inclusive, community-based resilience approaches.

In recognition of her impact, Vasiti was awarded the Women’s International Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (WIN DRR) Leadership Award by UNDRR in 2022. She is an active member of several technical advisory groups and humanitarian platforms.

Vasiti holds a Master’s degree in Geospatial Science from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia, and has undertaken specialized Crisis Executive Leadership training with FEMA, further enhancing her strategic and operational capabilities in the field.
