Flood early warning systems are essential for turning hazard forecasts into timely, practical action. This webinar brings together researchers and practitioners working at the forefront of flood forecasting systems across Asia. Drawing on insights from the PEERS Leading Practice Report, the session will explore how advances in hydrological modelling, real-time information systems, and coastal forecasting can strengthen preparedness and support more effective flood-risk decisions.
The webinar will feature Professor Kei Yoshimura, who will introduce Today’s Earth, a high-resolution land-surface and river simulation system, and Engineer Thies Blokhuijsen, who will share experience in developing coastal flood early warning systems in Asia. A facilitated discussion will connect the two presentations, examining opportunities to translate technical forecasts into actionable warnings, strengthen institutional collaboration, and adapt early warning systems to different regional contexts.
