Adapting Mediterranean Coasts to Sea-Level Rise: From Risk to Resilience

October 30 online

Sea-level rise presents complex and interconnected challenges for Mediterranean coasts—from flooding and erosion to land subsidence, sediment loss and the degradation of wetlands and lagoons.

This webinar presents two examples of adaptation in practice: Venice Lagoon, where flood protection is combined with the restoration of lagoon morphology and habitats, and the Ebro Delta, where sediment management, wetland restoration, hydrological reconnection and climate-resilient agriculture are being brought together.

Drawing on the PEERS Global Leading Practices for Coastal Resilience report, the webinar will highlight practical approaches, lessons learned and the importance of integrated coastal planning for a changing Mediterranean.
